Chinese steel exports increase by 6.3% in Q1 despite global protectionism
Due to low domestic steel demand caused by local real estate industry weakness, China has to deal with its excess steel production by selling these products at a lower price to other countries.

According to statistics, in March, China's crude steel output was calculated to be 92.84 million tons in total, increasing by 4.6% year on year.

Despite the growing protectionism in the international market, in the first three months of 2025, China produced 259.3 million tons of crude steel (up 0.6%) and exported 27.43 million tons of steel products (up 6.3%).
